Reggae-Events dieses Wochenende in San Francisco

Reggae emerged in late 1960s Jamaica, evolving from the faster rhythms of ska and rocksteady into a distinctively slower, syncopated style. It is characterized by its signature 'skank' guitar strokes on the off-beats and a heavy, melodic bassline that often drives the song's melodic structure. Typically utilizing a 'one drop' drum beat where the emphasis falls on the third beat, the genre creates a relaxed yet rhythmically compelling atmosphere. Thematically, reggae often explores themes of social justice, spirituality, and pan-Africanism, maintaining a close semantic relationship with descendant genres like dub and dancehall while exerting a profound influence on global pop and hip-hop.
