Rune Folk-Events dieses Wochenende in San Francisco

Rune folk is a contemporary subgenre of neofolk that draws inspiration from pre-Christian Germanic and Nordic traditions, emphasizing ancient mythology and runic mysticism. The instrumentation typically features historical Nordic instruments like the taglharpa, nyckelharpa, and hurdy-gurdy, often paired with deep, ritualistic frame drums and layered vocal harmonies. Rhythmically, the genre favors steady, driving percussive patterns that evoke a primal, trancelike atmosphere, varying from somber, atmospheric ballads to high-energy epic compositions. Emotionally, rune folk bridges the gap between traditional folk and ambient music, offering a nostalgic yet visceral connection to ancestral heritage through a blend of acoustic authenticity and modern production techniques.
