Die erste Begegenung von Bühnenautorin Myra Hudson (Joan Crawford) und Schauspieler Lester Blaine (Jack Palance) verläuft nicht eben romantisch, denn sie drängt ihn aus der Rolle, die er in ihrem Stück spielen soll. Er plant, sie umzubringen - doch Myra bekommt Wind von der Sache und entwirft ihrerseits einen Plan dagegen...

Two of the all-time faces in this movie. Joan Crawford had some of cinema’s great “absolutely horrified of every single thing that she sees or hears” eyes and Jack Palance had one of the great “this belongs on an old guy and looks fucked up on a young guy” facial structures. Put them together? Baby, that’s what I call cinema.
