Symphonic Cinema: LOSS & The Planets
Symphonic Cinema is a groundbreaking concert experience, bringing together some of the greatest works of the symphonic repertoire with newly created silent films, inspired by the music. During a performance, the film’s director Lucas van Woerkum is positioned among the musicians in the orchestra, shaping his films in real time in response to the performance – making every concert a unique experience. This LSO concert features the UK premiere of the new film LOSS, a moving meditation on grief and transformation starring Emma Thompson and Greg Wise, including dance performances by The Arts Umbrella Dance Company. It unfolds against the backdrop of Holst’s The Planets, reflecting the music’s changing moods as the film explores life and death.
