Open Rehearsal: Kings Place Jazz Orchestra
Underground, νοσταλγική βραδιά nu jazz
As part of King's Cross Summer Sounds, Kings Place invites you to a free private open rehearsal for Swing into Summer with the Kings Place Jazz Orchestra. This is a chance to get an early glimpse of a brand new programme for the orchestra, a handpicked ensemble bringing together some of the UK’s finest jazz and big band musicians alongside rising-star young artists. Directed by acclaimed composer, arranger and trombonist Callum Au, and featuring vocalist Iain Mackenzie, this special rehearsal offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the orchestra in action. The programme is an energetic, swinging celebration of the Great American Songbook, inspired by the music of Marty Paich and the Dektette, and the songs recorded by Mel Tormé on his 1960 album Swings Shubert Alley. Guests are welcome to drop in and out at any point during the session.
