Originally conceived for keyboard, Bach’s 30 variations on a single aria unfold here through a vivid spectrum of instrumental colour. Rather than altering Bach’s design, O’Neill expands it, allowing listeners to experience the familiar architecture of the variations through fresh sonorities and expressive possibilities. The result is both intimate and expansive: a compelling dialogue between Baroque brilliance and contemporary orchestral imagination.
