Νοσταλγική, underground βραδιά opera
Liadov conjures magical landscapes while Tchaikovsky navigates anguish and triumph in this soul-enriching concert featuring the world premiere of Hannah Kendall’s eagerly anticipated new work. Anatoly Liadov’s sumptuously orchestrated, impressionistic tone poem The Enchanted Lake is one of the defining works of late Romanticism. Composed twenty years earlier in 1888, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No 5 uses beautiful melodies to journey from dark depths to life-affirming heights. The London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Antonio Pappano bring their rich experience with Russian music to these late-Romantic staples, joined by versatile mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron for tonight's premiere.
