A rapturously beautiful slow burning film. The final scene, where the motorcycles glide along roads, fading into memory with the distant echo of a roar is probably the best sequence of filmmaking at this year’s Locarno Film Festival.

Ο Μελρίκ, ένα απείθαρχο αγόρι, περνά το καλοκαίρι του στη Γαλλική Γουιάνα στο σπίτι της γιαγιάς του για να ξεφύγει από την ταραχώδη καθημερινότητά του στη Στεν, στη Γαλλία. Στο τέλος της παραμονής του, παίζει τύμπανα για να αναβιώσει τη μνήμη του εκλιπόντος θείου του, Λούκα Ντιομάρ, ο οποίος πέθανε κάτω από τραγικές συνθήκες. Παρά το κύμα δολοφονιών νέων ανδρών που συγκλονίζει τα πρωτοσέλιδα, ο Μελρίκ συνειδητοποιεί τη θέση του σε μια οικογένεια που έχει καταστραφεί από ανεπανόρθωτο πένθος.
