Chintan Upadhyay was born into a family of artists and began learning music at an early age in Gujarat, India. He holds a Master's Degree in Music from Pune University and was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship for Dhrupad studies. He studies Dhrupad under Pt. Uday Bhawalkar and serves as creative director at the Alembic Dhrupad Foundation. The performance features Dhrupad, an ancient Indian classical artform, presented in two major parts: Alap and composition.
