Berliner Sibelius Orchester
A nostalgic, underground classical night.
Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin, Germany
The summer program of the Berliner Sibelius Orchester, conducted by Trần Đình Lam, presents a "cinema for the ears" with three evocative suites. The evening begins with Leoš Janáček's suite from his opera "The Cunning Little Vixen," a colorful and impressionistic musical trip through the Bohemian forest that serves as a melancholic parable on the cycle of life. Next, the orchestra performs Igor Stravinsky’s "Firebird Suite" (1919 version), a dazzling display of orchestral effects and folklore-inspired melodies depicting the magical encounter between a prince and a mythical firebird. The program also features Nino Rota's suite from "La Strada," completing a triptych of cinematic orchestral music.
