Violent Femmes
A nostalgic, gritty folk punk night.
Violent Femmes formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band in Milwaukee, drawing influences from Gene Vincent and the Velvet Underground. After being discovered by Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders while busking outside a venue, the group rose to fame with a raw sound that eventually inspired MTV's Unplugged. Their debut album made history as the first to go platinum years after its release without ever appearing on the Billboard charts. Four decades later, they continue to tour internationally and influence diverse artists across the musical spectrum. This special performance features greatest hits and tracks from their album The Blind Leading the Naked.
