For mezzo-soprano Isabel Pronk, it’s all about telling stories. Not just a singer, Isabel is also an actress and theatre maker, and whatever she sings, she makes you believe it is true. Tonight, with pianist Daan Boertien, Isabel presents a story-filled programme, from classics by masters like Kurt Weill and Astor Piazzolla captivating 2020 song cycle by the prodigiously talented Thomas Beijer. In addition to vocal performance, Isabel studied musical theatre. She is as comfortable enchanting listeners at Amsterdam’s Grachtenfestival as she is igniting the energy of the Down The Rabbit Hole pop festival. Last season, as a finalist in the Dutch Classical Talent competition, she toured the major concert halls of the Netherlands with her own programme. From the deeply moving strains of Manuel de Falla’s Nana to the spirited Snake of Jake Heggie’s songs of Eve, she commands the entire emotional palette. Outdoor concert This Terrace Concert is an outdoor event. The sun can be intense and the wind can be quite strong near the water, so come prepared. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the performance will be held indoors in the Entrance Hall, which overlooks the river IJ.
