The Notwist’s musical landscape has continually evolved from its early days of hardcore punk in late 1980s Weilheim to a sophisticated blend of electronica, dub, jazz, and pop. Now based in Munich as a multi-member collective, the band remains anchored by Markus Acher’s fragile and emotive vocals. Their recent work, News from Planet Zombie, recorded live at Munich’s Import Export, explores the paradoxes of a world becoming increasingly alien to itself. Drawing on horror and zombie film aesthetics, the tracks serve as a commentary on a grotesque global state while insisting on the quiet possibility of connection. This performance is part of the Pop-Kultur Festival 2026, which features international and local artists across various venues in Berlin.
