Marillion
Marillion are a progressive rock band hailing from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK, who rose to prominence as part of the 80s neo-prog revival. Taking their name from a J.R.R. Tolkien novel, the group formed in 1979 and established their core lineup in the mid-80s. After achieving significant success with the 1985 concept album Misplaced Childhood and the hit single Kayleigh, the band underwent a stylistic shift in the late 80s with new vocalist Steve Hogarth. They moved toward a more accessible mainstream rock sound while retaining dark, symphonic progressive elements. Known for their ambitious sound and loyal fan base, Marillion were pioneers in using crowd-funding to support their tours and activities.
