mutha flac + frankie teardrop + mo wrights
A raw, high-energy collision between two worlds: the synth-punk pulse of FRANKIE TEARDROP and the unfiltered punk intensity of MUTHA FLAC (SU) February 2026 marks a unique collaboration between two DIY powerhouses, uniting across continents to tear down stages and connect underground scenes from Paramaribo to Amsterdam. This double-headline run fuses satirical Dutch synth chaos with tropical Surinamese punk a cross-cultural exchange of noise, irony, and heart, starting after the IFFR 2026 closing date (Feb 8) and riding the wave of Tra Fasis premiere buzz plus FRANKIE TEARDROPs January EP Boxcutter launch. Formed in 2019, Mutha Flac is the only punk rock band emerging from the tropical city of Paramaribo, Suriname. Born from the ashes of hardcore band Skafu, we blend fast-paced riffs, straightforward hammering drums, and reflections on identity, corruption, and youth rebellion, embodying the raw DIY spirit of Surinames underground alternative scene. Recent single Guillotine (Oct 3, 2025, Beerput Records) reignited our presence with a follow-up to early releases that turned heads in South American and Dutch punk circles. Featured in the upcoming documentary Tra Fasi, selected at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026 — the film spotlights the alternative punk scene in Suriname and follows lead singer Shavero Ferriers journey with his band. FRANKIE TEARDROP A synth-punk phenomenon from Zaandam, the Netherlands, formed by Lucas de Gier and Duncan Vet. FRANKIE TEARDROP channels disbelief and frustration into sharp, satirical bursts of sound. Their music is loud, humorous, and cynical, reflecting the absurdity of modern life. MO WRIGHTS channels the soul in his veins through narrative-driven mixes and productions blending the young with the old, the clean with the dirty and affixing the riddim with the radiance of balmy jazz chords. A Jazz cat by nature, House head by trade and music lover at heart, Mo Wrights is a producer, DJ, curator and co-founder of the Amsterdam-based music platform Steppin Into Tomorrow. His deep appreciation for and knowledge of music (culture) radiates through narrative-driven mixes and productions. He centralises story and narrative; genres are just chapters which, when taken together, are greater than the sum of their parts. Dont act surprised if the energy on a dancefloor pulsates the same rhythm while the rhythm of the record traverses from House gems to Broken Beat, from Rap to Jazz-Funk, Punjabi Garage or Chutney-Soca and from Future Beats to Jazz Rave.
