Teenage Fanclub was founded in 1989 and achieved their breakthrough with their third album 'Bandwagonesque' (1991), which won Spin Magazine’s Best Album Poll ahead of Nirvana’s 'Nevermind' and R.E.M.’s 'Out of Time'. Once famously described by Kurt Cobain as "the best band in the world," the Scottish group began as a noise band before evolving into power pop. Over time, their music has become milder without losing its power, characterized by tasteful, sparkling, and melodic guitar pop complemented by melancholic vocal harmonies. The band has since become respected veterans of the indie scene.
