Nona van der Wansem, simply known as Nona, brings a distinctive blend of soul, blues, and pop to Tolhuistuin. Growing up in her parents' record store in Uden, she was influenced early on by legendary voices like Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding. This classical foundation remains the core of her warm, weathered, and character-filled sound. Following a period of reflection and a creative reset in Denmark, she returned with music that is more honest and raw than ever. While her 2019 debut album earned her spots at major festivals such as Pinkpop and North Sea Jazz, her current chapter focuses on an organic approach. Her music features live instrumentation and powerful vocals, telling personal stories of self-acceptance, loss, and resilience. Influences from Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters are still present, translated into a modern, timeless sound that is best experienced live.
