Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto is a powerful tale of artistic resilience, written after a challenging period of writer’s block. The piece is celebrated for its victory and deep lyricism. Pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason makes her Hollywood Bowl and LA Phil debuts with this beloved concerto. The program, conducted by Gemma New, also features John Adams’ energetic Short Ride in a Fast Machine and Rachmaninoff’s final masterpiece, Symphonic Dances.
