An underground, nostalgic jazz night.
Rory Ingham invites one of the most in-demand trombonists in the Netherlands, Maarten Combrink of the Metropole Orchestra. Together they explore the sound palette of the trombone, combining influences from different musical scenes. For this special one-off August show at the Vortex, they join forces with an all-star British rhythm section. Exploring the sounds of the great two-trombone quintet featuring J.J Johnson and Kai Winding, Maarten and Rory will be showcasing their wide range of trombone influences from Jack Teagarden to Elliot Mason via Urbie Green and Carl Fontana. Expect it to sound tight, rich and swinging!
