Versatile and accomplished jazz pianist Joel Forrester performs as part of his August residency. As the composer of more than 1600 tunes and leader of his own quintet and co-leader of the legendary Microscopic Septet, Forrester is a prolific recording artist who also penned the theme to NPR's Fresh Air. His performances draw from an extraordinary diversity of styles including stride, boogie-woogie, bebop, trance, and what he describes as "salon pieces," with each composition bearing the stamp of his unique individual artistry.
