Jazz lovers, unite. Join us every Thursday for a free live jazz session in our lobby. Grab a drink, take a seat, and unwind from a hard day’s work during Jazz Thursdays at Werkplaats. Each edition, we welcome fabulous jazz musicians. Whether it’s the renowned Amsterdam Jazz Trio (Jochem Braat on piano, Tijn Jans on drums, and Adrie Braat on double bass), intimate duos, or special guests ranging from saxophonists to jazz singers and vibraphonists – expect an evening filled with top-tier jazz. This week, we welcome the talented duo Jochem Braat (piano) & Luuk Janssen (guitar) for an evening of intimate and expressive jazz. Jochem Braat is an eclectic pianist known for his deep musical versatility. Influenced by everything from swing and Brazilian music to film scores and contemporary jazz, he crafts performances rich in harmony and playful rhythmic experimentation. With a background in jazz piano from the Conservatory of Amsterdam and Utrecht, Jochem has worked with artists like Wouter Hamel, Janne Schra, and Lumi and performed worldwide, from concert halls to intimate jazz bars. Luuk Janssen brings his own dynamic sound, blending jazz with blues and pop influences. Raised in a musical family, he developed a passion for guitar early on and refined his craft at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. His diverse career spans jazz ensembles, theater tours with Daniëlle Schel, and collaborations with acts like Lumi, Kruidkoek, and Cats Collective. Together, Jochem and Luuk create a unique interplay of melody and improvisation, delivering a fresh take on jazz classics and original compositions.
