GENA is a spirited collaborative duo featuring Dallas-born artist Liv.e and renowned drummer Karriem Riggins. Short for “God Energy, Naturally Amazing”, the project channels the instinctive musical prowess of both musicians while colliding their jazz-inspired styles. The result is a playful, soul-laden improvisational body of work that captures Liv.e’s raw vision for R&B alongside Riggins’ masterful percussive universe that spans jazz improvisation and beat-making alchemy. The two recognized each other as kindred spirits after meeting through a mutual acquaintance and began performing under the mysterious GENA moniker earlier this year.
