Enrico Pieranunzi Quintet: Chet Remembered
An open-air, raw jazz fusion night.
“Chet Remembered” is a concert project born from the deep artistic and personal connection between pianist Enrico Pieranunzi and the legendary American trumpeter Chet Baker. This musical journey is more than a tribute; it is a reflection on melody, improvisation, and the emotional tension that characterized their collaboration, which began in the late 1970s and culminated in the 1980 album “Soft Journey”. The quintet presents a repertoire inspired by Baker’s sensitivity, reinterpreted through Pieranunzi's unique harmonic approach. The performance features jazz standards associated with the trumpeter alongside original compositions where lyrical melody and instrumental dialogue take center stage. Pieranunzi is joined by his long-standing rhythm section of Luca Bulgarelli and Mauro Beggio, together with soloists Michele Polga and Giacomo Serino, creating a cohesive sound that balances chamber-like delicacy with improvisational energy.
