Yiannis Kassetas
Yiannis Kassetas presents his new album “Far” at Theatre of The No on Friday, February 27. Innovative saxophonist and composer Yiannis Kassetas will present his sixth studio album, “Far”, live at 21:30 at Theatre of The No. The album “Far”, released on vinyl, CD, and streaming by Puzzlemusik, features exclusively original compositions by Kassetas, inspired by the impressionism of Claude Debussy, the unique Eastern jazz of Tigran Hamasyan, and the contemporary jazz of New York. With his distinctive personal touch, Kassetas creates vivid musical landscapes and narratives, a quality that has earned him international recognition. Renowned American saxophonist Craig Handy has described him as “the jazz Ennio Morricone of Greece.” Kassetas is regarded as one of the most important young saxophonists in the Greek jazz scene and a highly original composer. His first solo album, “The Truth About the Alien Invasion in Egypt” (2007) with his band The Funk Wizards, received critical acclaim and showcased a wide musical range, spanning from post-bop and modal jazz to jazz funk, always incorporating Greek rhythms and contemporary influences.
