The Roots, also known as The Legendary Roots Crew, are an influential, Grammy-winning hip hop group from Philadelphia celebrated for their jazzy sound and live instrumentation. Founded by MC Black Thought and drummer Questlove, the band has spent over 30 years redefining the constructs of hip-hop by incorporating R&B, jazz, and rock. In addition to their 14 studio albums and relentless global touring, they are widely recognized as the house band for Jimmy Fallon. The group also founded the Roots Picnic, which has grown into a major institution in the festival circuit.
