Slum Village is a legendary Detroit hip-hop group formed in 1996 in the Conant Gardens neighborhood. Originally a trio consisting of J Dilla, T3, and Baatin, they built a massive following in the underground scene with their seminal work, including the album Fan-Tas-Tic (Vol. 2). Known for their forward-thinking production and smooth lyrical delivery, they influenced a generation of artists and found commercial success with hits like "Selfish" featuring Kanye West and John Legend. Following the passing of J Dilla and the departure of other members, the group has evolved through different lineups, continuing to tour and release music that honors their deep hip-hop roots.
