Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

Arturo O'Farrill, a six-time GRAMMY-winning Mexican American pianist, composer, and bandleader, leads the 18-piece Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra (ALJO). As part of their legendary 29-year weekly NYC residency, the ensemble performs a wide-ranging repertoire that spans from celebrated Latin classics to contemporary works and original compositions by leading local musicians. Renowned as a pivotal figure in contemporary music, O'Farrill is celebrated for his genre-defying virtuosity and commitment to social justice. His work bridges Latin rhythms with modern jazz and contemporary composition. He has released nearly 25 albums and earned commissions from prestigious institutions including Jazz at Lincoln Center and the San Francisco Ballet.
