One of Greece's most prominent pop stars, Sakis Rouvas first gained recognition as a pole-vaulter for the Hellenic National Team before being discovered by the Polygram record label in 1991. Over the decades, his singles have consistently topped the Greek charts. He is also noted for his reconciliation efforts between Greece and Turkey, having performed a landmark concert with Burat Kud in 1997 that earned him the International Ipekci Prize for understanding and cooperation.
