commonthread: Femme Work
A danceable, queer jungle night.
dublab launches a new nightlife series titled commonthread, a project that brings together DJs, scene builders, and sonic architects to trace connections between their sounds and respective scenes. This edition, themed Femme Work, features heavy hitters Bae Bae, DJ Noir, Boo Lean, and Spinorita sharing the decks for the first time. The night includes DJ sets alongside archival video and party clips celebrating the women and femme DJs, dancers, and organizers who continue to inspire the electronic music community. BAE BAE is a prominent figure in Los Angeles' underground scene, known for her commitment to creating safer communal party spaces. Her style ranges through techno, ghetto house, and footwork with an R&B influence. DJ Noir, co-founder of Juke Bounce Werk, explores subversive soundscapes from jungle to dubstep. Boo Lean, the Executive Director of dublab, brings sidewinding sets of dub and polyrhythmic techno. Spiñorita rounds out the lineup with a sound rooted in 90s LA, blending funk, freestyle, and drum & bass.
