A nostalgic, underground afrobeat night.
Join an intimate listening session with Zahra, exploring the research and stories behind the Habibi Funk compilation: A Selection of Music from Libyan Tapes (Habibi Funk 031). Zahra, who made a major contribution to this project, spent extensive time interviewing fourteen featured artists or their families to document Libya's rich musical heritage. The session will cover the cultural context, personal histories, and Afro-influences found within the diverse range of genres on the album. More than just a listening experience, the event is a conversation about archiving, oral history, and cultural preservation.
The session occurs on August 14 from 19:00 to 20:30 at Atemporal, located at Boxhagener Str. 96 in Berlin.
Zahra leads a discussion on archiving and oral history, sharing insights from her research into the fourteen artists featured on the Habibi Funk 031 compilation.
