A danceable, underground nu jazz night.
Pōneke-based Tahini Bikini are known for their distinctive sound, a combination of danceable funk, soul, and pop influences. Led by frontwoman Mads Taylor, whose frank and feisty lyrics meet a smoky vocal style, the seven-piece group has become a fixture on the festival circuit following their 2022 debut album Fever Dream. The group is joined by Jemima Whyte, an alto saxophonist and composer in the UK jazz and soul scene. Her 7-piece band blends heavy funk and afro grooves with rich horn arrangements and old-school soul influences, featuring an all-female horn section.
