An underground, nostalgic baroque night.
A chamber concert showcasing Frédéric Chopin's lesser-known vocal repertoire alongside solo piano compositions. Soprano Aldona Bartnik, a specialist in early music and historical Polish vocal repertoire, performs songs by Chopin accompanied on historical fortepiano by Naruhiko Kawaguchi, awardee of the Warsaw Chopin Competition on Period Instruments. Kawaguchi also presents a selection of Chopin's mazurkas, nocturnes, the Berceuse, and Chopin's transcription of Vincenzo Bellini's aria Casta Diva.
