A nostalgic, raw big band night.
The Mingus Big Band exclusively performs the compositions of the renowned American bassist and composer Charles Mingus. Established by Sue Mingus, the 14-piece ensemble showcases new arrangements of his work in the large-scale format he envisioned. The group's dynamic structure fosters deep exploration and artistic expression, reflecting the spirit of Mingus's original Jazz Workshop. Featuring a rotating lineup of New York City's finest jazz musicians, the ensemble is recognized for its creativity and spontaneity. With seven Grammy nominations and a win in 2011, the band continues its legacy through the Mingus Mondays residency.
