Directed by Jeanie Finlay
A grounded, acclaimed documentary.
When a tidemark of poisoned crabs & lobsters devastate a small North East fishing town, veteran fisherman Stan Rennie becomes the unlikeliest of activists. A wry David and Goliath story, told with gallows humour and a broad Teesside accent, about the grief of navigating a world which has suddenly, inexplicably changed forever.

Woah I didn’t know I could feel so angry and radicalised about sediment.I hate capitalism, I hate data centres, and I hate tories Some beautiful images in this film, and a kind gaze 🙏 And thank you for the free lemon top at Docfest Jeanie Finlay it was really good even though I didn’t make it to the film that day
That mayor Houchen is the most horrible, despicable documentary villain since Billy Mitchell in The King Of Kong! Boooooooooooo!!
So privileged to have caught this far in advance of its release but it is a wholly depressing watch. It’s actually quite unbelievable how hopeless it is. Animals killed and tortured, human lives left to ruin and poverty, politicians and that lie constantly and avoid accountability and repair. And then mention of a data centre being built in the area at the end. You just can’t win.
It follows veteran fisherman Stan Rennie as he becomes an unlikely activist after poisoned crabs and lobsters devastate a North East fishing town.
It was directed by British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay in 2026.
