sometimes you fail to get standby for a fellini print at anthology film archives so you end up watching a documentary about cumdumping that is also playing at anthology (also from standby, this was also sold out) i love new york city and i learned so much about the psychology of cumdumping tonight
Great picture. A lot more about administrative work, customer service, and marketing/event management than I anticipated, perhaps in part because of Corey’s corporate day job, so the whole thing becomes a bit of an exploration of the consumerist/call center underbelly of modern gay men’s sexual interactions. There’s loads of cum of course—about 50 cumloads in fact—but it’s also negotiations over Grindr, competitions between bottoms in a top shortage, hotel fees, uber receipts, smart watches, and one or two tennis bracelets. There’s also a discussion of how Corey doesn’t eat for 16 hours and then does three hours of douching so he can be clean from “mouth to asshole”, and I immediately thought of an Apple Store. David Graeber’s Debt by way of Wiseman by way of Treasure Island Media? The repetitiveness gets you into Corey’s headspace, rolling from horniness to polite acknowledgment and back again (maybe more thank you’s than I’m gonna cums lol), but any intimacy Corey experiences is winnowed away by the anonymization—blurred faces, heads out of frame. Has this brilliant, but occasionally too distant, effect of putting you in the cumdump atmosphere.Narrow RoomsQ&A w/ Adam Baran and director Todd Verow where I learned that the men were aware they would be filmed by Corey but also in a documentary, so Todd had to ask them each to sign a release form and take a photo of their license before they could plow. His little production area was next to the tv. Oh and in the intro, Todd read a letter from Corey, who was in London, and Miles found his Bluesky post about the night—113 loads in 7 hours! A personal best!———Side note: In the VO, Corey mentioned that his phone was stolen once and him and one of the tops used Find My to track it across LA to get it back, and if that isn’t the makings of a rom com I don’t know what is.Side note: The cumdump in the movie takes place on November 8, 2024, and on November 7, 2024, I was watching Emilia Perez in theaters lol.
