Ahh, love during the Obama administration. How nice that must have beenI found a lot of this to be grating: the structure is a bit odd, the characters are incredibly shallow, its constantly changing aspect ratios, film grain and jumping between three time periods. Because of the time period jumping they really need to do some work to make our stars look younger. Emilia Jones with the swept across bangs is not a good look for her, but it reminded me of my friend from middle school, so at least it was period accurate. And sure, Charlie straight up sucks and is an alcoholic, but your problems didn’t seem that bad guys. Maybe you shouldn’t have moved to post Katrina, mid recession, New Orleans and your relationship would have survived. You literally walked into your dream job Harper. It just makes Charlie’s character seem a bit shallow as he’s reduced to just being an aimless drunk savant. However, I’d be lying if I said the last 20 minutes or so, once all these time lines finally line up and it stops switching aspect ratios, it didn’t win over the cynic in me. “Don’t throw away your shoe box.” fuck you man, I do that. Totally didn’t make me cry. That’s probably my biggest red flag, I’m a yearner, I always root for everyone to get back together in movies. Super sappy and I’m sure my girlfriend would have loved it, it’s just too sloppy to outweigh the very basic “you made me a better person” ending. I should make a tag for movies I’ve never heard of before they pop up for showtimes one one of my local theatres apps. It happens a lot more than you would think, I just need to come up with something clever but not too long, because I’m seeing The Stunt Driver tomorrow and that’s another movie I had never heard of before I checked Regals app. 2026 On the Silver Screen2026, My Year In Movies
