I had known of this one for awhile but I have seen many adaptations but decided to check out the original silent movie. I enjoyed it very much. What makes this stand out is John Barrymore’ s performance. It is convincing enough that it is believable that 2 different actors played Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde though he performed both. His Mr Hyde performance is incredibly creepy. There is a darkness this silent movie creates that I don’t think has ever been matched by any adaptation. If you are a horror fan you have to check it out. You can see it free with ads on Tubi or watch it as I did on Amazon Prime with no adds.

The boy gives it a hundred stars, “maybe more.” The girl made it nearly to the end and then called it quits. Barrymore is the whole show.Special note to parents: Don’t show your kids silent movies when you’re dozing because you have to stay awake to read all the intertitles.
