Really solid debut feature!viff #7
With the standing ovation at the sold out hometown premiere at the 2026 Vancouver International Film Festival, you can tell how much this film resonated with community. Ilhan Abdullahi's debut feature is a testament to the universality of cultural specifity. We laughed, we cried, and we held eachother in community.
the dialogue felt like an afterthought and overacted at times, however!!!!, huge shoutout to costume and makeup dept the outfits were carrying and her lip combo was perfect. there are many little imperfections in this film that could’ve easily been fixed with more time and money but i appreciate a community effort!
