I caught THE PRODIGY at the Chicago Horror Film Festival. I'm not normally into serial-killer movies, but I dug this one for its focus on character and its interesting -- and economical -- photography. A tight little movie.
A sequel to the Adam story from Adam in Fragments (2022), because there is a clear ending. Both films take you on a journey with the Adam character through harrowing situations. Calvin Picou shifts from soft and sweet, newly out of the closet, in Adam in Fragments and its sequel, to a cool, monotone, Patrick Bateman-like killer. Beau Swartz goes the distance. His Adam needed a hug and some money. I appreciated what it was trying to do. Some editing could have made this more impactful, since some parts dragged on.
