A location scout spends her days stepping into other people’s homes, taking photos and trying to find the right place for a TV pilot. The Scout follows Sofia through that work and the small, unpredictable encounters that come with it.Some of the homeowners are funny, some make the visits uncomfortable, and one reunion brings Sofia’s own life into sharper focus. The film has a lovely eye for New York interiors and the details that make each place feel lived in. Mimi Davila is quietly compelling as Sofia, even when the film leaves her frustrations mostly beneath the surface.I liked the relaxed, observational approach, but the day never builds into much of a story, and a few scenes linger longer than they need to.The Scout is an appealing little film, with enough warmth and personality to keep me engaged, even if it doesn’t leave a particularly strong impression.2026 Ranked
