Zakynthos Town has two places to see a film: an indoor cinema on Solomos Square that runs all year, and a municipal open-air cinema by the sea for the summer months. This page lists what's on and when, by film and by venue.
Cine Foskolos stands on Dionysios Solomos Square and is the town's main cinema. It has a single hall and is open all year, showing first-run releases and children's films, and between screenings it hosts theatre and cultural events. Its name goes back to the Foskolos municipal theatre of 1915, which already ran as a winter cinema long before the 1953 earthquake destroyed the town. Out of season it is in practice the only screen in town, so its programme is the Zakynthos programme.
In summer the films move outdoors. The Christos Negas open-air cinema is run by the municipality and sits on the EOT beach, on the Municipal Seafront along Dionysiou Roma Street, near Agia Triada beach. It takes its name from Christos Negas (1936-1981), an actor born on the island. It shows first-run films, children's screenings and cultural events. Open-air cinema has a long history here: after the earthquake, summer cinemas such as the Lux, Akropol, Pantheon, Astron and Rex lined the Lombardou seafront. The Negas has not always run: it was operated by the municipal company DEPAZ, and when that company was dissolved nobody took the site over, so by 2010 it had already stood closed for three summers, overgrown and full of rubbish. Like every open-air cinema, Negas opens with the warm weather and closes when the summer season ends, and the programme then returns to Solomos Square.
Neither cinema takes reservations for seats or tickets: tickets are sold only at the box office shortly before the show, so on busy nights it is worth arriving early. Mood gathers the Zakynthos programme in one place, with the time, venue and language of every showing.
Two. Cine Foskolos on Solomos Square is an indoor cinema open all year, and the municipal Christos Negas open-air cinema by the EOT beach runs only in summer. What each one is showing today is in Mood's programme.

Today the Negas plays through the summer months, but it has had closed summers: after the municipal company DEPAZ that ran it was dissolved, by 2010 it had been shut for three years. Whether it is showing tonight is in Mood's programme.
No. Neither cinema takes seat or ticket reservations, and tickets are issued only at the box office. Check the showtime on Mood and arrive a little early.
