Jlin + Third Coast Percussion
The award-winning percussion ensemble and Pulitzer Prize finalist composer Jlin collaborate in a performance exploring their decade-long partnership. The program features electronic renditions of Jlin’s compositions alongside acoustic realizations of Third Coast Percussion’s pieces, plus a new work commissioned by 92Y that brings all five musicians together live. Jlin’s sound is rooted in the Chicago Footwork scene, characterized by sophisticated polyrhythmic styles. Her work with Third Coast Percussion marks a pivotal step into composing for acoustic ensembles, creating a dialogue between contemporary classical music and innovative electronic sound.
