A nostalgic, slow-burn classical night.
Alexandre Tharaud returns to a childhood passion, the accompaniment of silent films, for the centenary of Murnau's 1927 masterpiece L’Aurore (Sunrise). Often cited as one of the most beautiful films ever made and a pinnacle of cinema history, this universal fable of love — subtitled "A Song of Two Humans" — was a technical and narrative triumph. It was among the first feature films to use a synchronized soundtrack, and for this performance, Tharaud provides live piano accompaniment for the screening of one of his favorite classics.
