A nostalgic baroque night.
Revered Bach specialist, Masato Suzuki, returns to the Barbican with his acclaimed Bach Collegium Japan to perform Handel’s beloved seasonal masterpiece. Handel’s masterpiece tells of the birth and life of Jesus and his victory over death through spectacular choruses, moving arias, and vivid recitatives. Since its Dublin premiere in 1742, the work has remained an essential highlight of the Christmas season. Bach Collegium Japan, one of the world’s foremost period performance ensembles, utilizes instruments and techniques intended to closely mirror those from Handel's original era.
