Urban Kiz-events in Amsterdam

Urban Kiz is a modern partner dance music genre that emerged in France during the early 2010s, evolving from traditional Angolan Kizomba and Ghetto Zouk. It distinguishes itself through heavy electronic production, incorporating synthesizers, deep basslines, and crisp drum machine beats influenced by Hip Hop and contemporary R&B. The rhythm is characterized by a linear structure with frequent syncopated steps, dramatic pauses, and a varying tempo that usually ranges from slow to moderate. While it maintains the sensual connection of its predecessor, the mood is often more atmospheric and technical, creating a sleek, urban aesthetic that bridges the gap between African social dance and Western electronic music influences.
