Celtic-events deze week in San Francisco

Celtic music is a broad genre rooted in the folk traditions of the Celtic people of Western Europe, primarily originating from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Brittany. It typically features acoustic instrumentation such as the fiddle, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, bodhrán, and the Celtic harp, often blending these with modern elements like acoustic guitars. The genre is characterized by rhythmic structures like jigs and reels in compound meters, alongside slow, evocative airs that emphasize melodic storytelling. Emotionally, it spans from high-energy, celebratory dance pieces to deeply melancholic and spiritual themes, maintaining a strong semantic relationship with broader folk and world music while influencing contemporary folk-rock and cinematic new-age compositions.
