Uk Reggae-events deze week in San Francisco

UK Reggae emerged in the late 1960s as Caribbean immigrants in Britain blended traditional Jamaican rhythms with local urban influences. Characterized by prominent 'one drop' or 'steppers' drum patterns and heavy, melodic basslines, the genre often incorporates brass sections, rhythmic guitar skanks, and electric organs. It spans a range of moods from the smooth, romantic sentimentality of Lovers Rock to the politically charged and gritty consciousness of Roots Reggae. Semantically, it serves as a bridge between original Jamaican styles and uniquely British developments like Dub and Jungle, reflecting the socio-political landscape of the Black British experience.
