Some first times stay with you forever. Hearing Syd Matters’ mesmerizing voice for the first time is one of them. From End & Start Again, his debut single in 2003, Jonathan Morali’s warm, soulful voice and timeless melodies, as if hailing from another era, revealed an artist unlike any other. Four albums followed, each containing a host of unforgettable songs — Black & White Eyes, Obstacles, To All of You, and I Might Float — that left a lasting mark on an entire generation. We still remember powerful concerts where Morali and his band delivered performances that were at once epic and deeply intimate. Jonathan Morali then stepped back from the spotlight, yet remained remarkably prolific — composing for the stage, video games, and film, His work on the acclaimed series Life Is Strange introduced his music to an entirely new audience. After too long an absence, Syd Matters is making a long-awaited comeback in 2026.
