An underground hardcore punk artist.
The Instigators are an alternative-reggae four piece currently based in Honolulu, Hawai’i. Founded in 2011, the band currently consists of original members Ka’ala Tsukada [vocals/guitar], Paul Spencer [bass], and Ryan Aquino [drums], with Landan Tolentino [guitar] being the most recent addition to the group. The Instigators’ mutual admiration of 90s alternative and ska punk artists such as Sublime and No Doubt bleeds into the ears of listeners as their most blatant influence, followed by more subtle-yet-present hints of roots reggae and surf rock. Their punkish stage presence and ability to get onlooking audiences raunchy and rowdy has awarded the Instigators their reputation among Honolulu’s various bars and venues as the “party band,” nearly expected to bring the chaos of a house party wherever they perform. After years of performing in Honolulu’s bar and venue circuits, the Instigators have released their debut single, entitled "Cut the Cord," in May, 2017. They are currently finishing their debut album, entitled “Bottled Up,” scheduled to be released in Fall, 2017.
The Instigators blend 90s alternative rock, ska punk, and reggae, drawing influences from bands like Sublime and No Doubt.
