Mara Halunga

Mara Halunga is a Romanian singer-songwriter. Born in Bucharest, Mara always heard many stories about Brazil because of her grandfather, who had worked as an engineer during the construction of the Romanian embassy building in Brasília. Her interest in Brazilian culture and music only increased, and then, in 2013, she met the guitarist Cauê De Marinis. The following year, Mara began her career as a singer in São Paulo, studying Brazilian music and especially samba. Between jams and participation in “rodas de samba” in the neighbourhood of São Paulo, a musical project was born in 2018. In addition to samba, the repertoire celebrated Brazilian music with bossa-nova classics, mpb, and choros. Since then, the duo has participated in jazz festivals all over Romania, Italy, Sweden and São Paulo, together with Brazilian and Romanian musicians. At this moment, in music and in life, the duo is divided between Bucharest and São Paulo.   With lyrics in Portuguese mixed with verses in Romanian, the singer Mara Halunga released her first single, "A Gente Se Encontra no Final" , a song made in partnership with the Brazilian guitarist Cauê de Marinis. The single will be part of the artist's debut album, which was released in november 2024  and produced by Bruno dos Reis. Infusing her music with an eclectic mix of rhythms and melodies, drawing inspiration from her experiences and encounters throughout her musical journey, Mara's album promises to be unforgettable.
